Pyramids Not Built Via Love Alone, People

We've been saying this for 40 years---"First, we eat, Then we do everything else." It's our motto, words from the fabled food-oriented writer MFK Fisher.

Whether preparing to battle our fellows in war, or raise babies, we need to eat.

So now we see that food as a pursuit is coming into focus in many endeavors. Archaeologists are now exploring the feeding of the thousands of workers who built the Great Pyramids. We used to think those laborers ate flatbread with oil and scallions. Silly us...

They were gorging on meat!

According to another spectacular report from LiveScience.com, "...about 11 cattle and 37 sheep or goats were consumed each day. This would be in addition to supplying workers with grain, beer and other products."
